overview

After playing team sports his entire life, culminating with being a Division I baseball player at Yale (1995-99), Dave turned to running to (1) keep himself in decent shape, and (2) have some "alone" time to de-stress from his job as a corporate litigation attorney. As it turned out, he really enjoyed running, and especially the running lifestyle. Dave ran his first marathon in 2003, got hooked, and hasn't looked back since.
From 2003-2011, Dave ran over 30 marathons (15 in under 3:00), including the Boston Marathon (3 times, with a 2:52 personal best on the course). His overall marathon PR is 2:46 (Tucson 2008). In 2010, Dave decided to venture into ultramarathons, and, to date, has run in over 50 ultras, including 30 races of at least 100 miles long. He has won or placed in the top-3 at over a dozen ultra marathons. Dave finished in the top-5 overall (and second American) at the highly competitive 2015 Badwater 135, and is the course record-holder at the Skydive 200-mile race. He is the only 7-time finisher of the grueling Keys 100 (2011-17).
Dave is a 1999 graduate of Yale University, and a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame Law School (magna cum laude). He is certified as a running coach.
Since -- and even before -- founding Zwitty Ultra, Dave has coached dozens of runners across the United States and in Europe in all types of races, from first marathons to qualifying to Boston, as well as from first ultramarathons to winning 100-mile races. Dave is extremely passionate about not only running, but especially helping others achieve their goals. He is unflinchingly-positive, and strongly believes in hard work, but also having fun with the journey along the way.
